Easter Eggs and sugar content - it isn't good!!!!

A topical blog entry as we are just around the corner from Easter - and there have been plenty of chocolate eggs in the shops for weeks. But do we consider just how much sugar is in this treat?

Public Health England says that children aged four to six should have up to 19g a day of sugar. For those aged seven to ten that increases to 24g, and adults should average around 30g.

A Dairy Milk Crunchie Ultimate Chocolate Egg, plus inside treats, can can contain 330g of sugar. That is a third of a normal sized bag of white sugar you buy in the shops!!!!

Even a simple Cadbury's Creme Egg has over 26g of sugar.

Cadbury's claim that all eggs sold are intended for sharing and to be eaten over several days - as if that is going to happen!!!!

It is good to be aware. Treats are nice. Clearly it is meant as such. But you should be encouraged to nibble it over a few days. And HMHB understands how difficult that is.
