Brushing your teeth straight after meeting most fruits can cause tiny particles of protective enamel to be brushed away down the sink.

Oranges, berries and kiwis, for example, supply an acid and sugar combination which actually weakens enamel on teeth.

The Oral Health Foundation say it is best to rinse your mouth with water after eating, and leave at least one hour before you brush.
