Quitting Anti-Depressants can be difficult

As many know, HMHB was conceived following a couple of deep depressions for our Lazza. Getting out of that rut can be traumatic and challenging. People can grasp at anything that can help.
However, Lazza did not use any anti-depressants. That is not to say that others would not find them helpful. It was his own choice when offered them.  "I wanted to know that when I felt better that it was down to me, and not down to any pill."

It's a tricky subject. People can find them useful - but others just as a placebo, convincing themselves that if they stop taking them then the world will collapse inwards again.

Now, doctors have been told to warn patients either taking anti-depressants, or before they start, about the often severe side-effects of quitting.  The Royal College of Psychiatrists have admitted that the debilitating withdrawal symptoms can last for weeks, or even months. These can include electric shock sensations, fatigue and anxiety. They have previously often been down-played, insisting they tended to be 'mild' and last no more than a week or two.

The U-turn is expected to be written into guidance for GPs. It will encourage doctors to discuss the consequences of taking the drugs before they are prescribed. In 2016/2017, seven million Brits took the drugs.
