As part of our Ajani course, we like to invite professional people in to talk about health matters - and one part of that, that has proven to be very popular, is around dental health.  That is because it can link in with various illnesses.

A Norwegian team, led by researcher Piotr Mydel, recently announced that both brushing and flossing teeth regularly can help prevent Alzheimer's disease.

Bacteria from the gum disease gingivitis produces and enzyme which destroys brain nerve cells, and that can lead to memory loss. Around 50 per cent of adults have the enzyme porphyromonas gingivalis. However, studies have found that 96 per cent of Alzheimer's patients had the enzyme. So if we can help find a drug that blocks the enzyme, it could have a beneficial effect on your brain.

HMHB says: regardless of any study, keeping your mouth healthy is clearly of benefit to maintaining a better lifestyle. That includes your teeth, gums and tongue. A small amount of time each day can lead to long term benefits.
