Obesity the "new smoking" when it comes to Cancer

Image result for obesity causes cancers

We are all aware that obesity is a growing problem, especially with sedentary lifestyles and poorer nutrition in the UK. However, a new alert from the NHS says that Britain's obesity crisis is the "new smoking" - and say it will trigger an extra 360,000 cancer cases in ten years. In fact they believe it could soon reverse medical gains on the disease.

NHS experts calculate that obesity will be responsible for 36,800 new cancer diagnoses per year by 20309 - more than 300 per day.  That is a 62 per cent rise since 2015.  Campaigners say this needs to be a wake up call.

Many people do not understand that obesity can cause cancer. If we continue to pile on the pounds, we are heading towards thousands more avoidable cancer deaths every year. With a reported 30 per cent of Brits seen as obese, this raises risk of various czncers; such as bowel, breast, womb and kidney, as well as colon, rectum and pancreas.

HMHB says: it is clearly a recognised issue, and one we need to address as individuals,. We have to start taking responsibility over our diets and exercise. We need to ensure we find time in our routines to be healthier. It is not rocket science. And the big word above is "avoidable". If you can do something that prevents the risk of dying, surely you do everything in your power to do just that.
