How to help your body recover from exercise

Exercise is meant to push you out of your comfort zone, and your body can feel tired and sweaty afterwards. But recovery is just as important as training. Can you do anything to assist?  Let's look at a few ways suggested by experts.

Turmeric Tea
Herbal teas are recognised as good for you, but do look for turmeric. This caffeine-free tea "promotes healthy joints and eases achy and sore muscles thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties".

Magnesium Bath Salts
Not only does a hot bath help to relax your mind and body, if you put in magnesium salts they can "help detoxify muscles". Apparently, the mineral helps relax muscles by flushing lactic acid build uo in the muscles, which may occur during exercise".

Recovery Pajamas
I kid you not - this is actually a genuine product. The pattern inside the fabric is said to "return infrared energy to your body, boosting blood flow."  This ups the amount of oxygen reaching your muscles. The more you get, the better you feel - and the faster your restore muscle.

Hot Yoga
After working your body, stretching and working on your body is vitally important.  Yoga can help to loosen up the body and prevent tightness. There is a fad that it should be done in a warm room to make you sweat more. HMHB has not seen any evidence that hot yoga is any better than normal, but its always worth trying these things - even if it acts as a placebo.

Foam Roller
It looks innocent, but a simple foam roller (google it) can help do things that normal stretching cannot.
Use your bodyweight to roll muscles along this cheap piece of equipment to really help massage deep into sore areas.
