Helping Your Brain - Part 4 - Vitamin D

Researchers from the University of Georgia who looked at Seasonal Affect Disorder (SAD) found that Vitamin D plays a vital role in our moods.

Experts reckon that this vitamin is involved in the brain's synthesis of serotonin and dopamine - which if you have low levels can be linked to depression.

Exposure to sunlight is the nest way to get Vitamin D. But it is thought that many in the UK are deficient, especially during the winter months - due to sedentary lifestyles (so not getting outdoors enough) and general lethargy, especially if going through mental or physical health problems.

Many health professionals say it is the only health supplement that they would recommend to people.
