Preventable cancers!! Weight overtakes smoking as major cause.

Image result for obesity is worse than smoking

We all run the risk of getting cancer. It is sadly part of being human. Your body is constantly bombarded with health risks through your whole life. It is a miracle really that we survive as well as we do.

But some cancers are preventable? Not saying if you live a perfect healthy life (is that possible?) you will not get any, but you can lower the risk of some significantly with lifestyle changes.

Research now reveals that being fat has overtaken smoking as the major preventable cause of four common cancers. Experts claim that rising numbers of deadly Bowel, Liver, Kidney and Ovarian cancer cases have been fuelled by excess weight.

It has led to warnings the fat epidemic could soon reverse medical gains in this disease. The Office for National Statistics said 29 per cent of UK adults are now obese, double the level in 1993.  Another statistic is that 14.7 per cent of Brits smoke - meaning that overweight people outnumber cigarette smokers by two to one.

Each year 42000 people are diagnosed with bowel tumours.  Analysis by Cancer Research UK reveals excess weight was responsible for 4800 of these cases, compared with just 2900 from smoking. It was also linked with higher numbers for kidney, ovarian and liver tumours.

It should be added though that smoking is still the UK's biggest preventable cause of all cancers.

HMHB says:
again - the biggest word here is "preventable". It just comes down to simple lifestyle changes. Lazza says: "my mum died because she smoked - she had Emphysema and spent the last years of her life needing to be close to an oxygen tank. It destroyed her. Before she died she told me if she had known smoking would kill her she would never have picked up a fag".
Now it is overeating. You have one body and one life. Why not look after it?? I know I am overweight and losing it again - because I know so well, especially after researching for HMHB - the dangers of cancers, diabetes and heart disease. Please give yourself and MOT.
